WHAT IS RANGE DAY?

Range Day is a shooting competition consisting of three courses of fire including pistol, rifle and shotgun. The competition is shot for time and the winner is an accumulation of the time in all three categories. There are two divisions: Open Division  and Closed Division.  

Open Division

Experienced Shooters can shoot any of their own firearms or any of the range day provided firearms for the courses of fire.

Closed Division

Novice Shooters can exclusively shoot range day provided firearms for the courses of fire. 

HOW MUCH DOES THIS EVENT COST AND WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THAT PRICE?

Range Day is $50 per ticket. That includes your entry fee into the shooting event, entry into the door prize giveaways and a BBQ Lunch.

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?

There will be both door prizes as well as prizes awarded for each shooting division.

Open Division Grand Prize: Kimber K6

Closed Division Grand Prize: Sig P320

Door Prizes Include: Henry Repeating Arms .357 Magnum and other prizes

DO I NEED TO FILL OUT A WAIVER?

We are so glad you asked. Yes. You can download that here and bring it with you for a quicker check in process or fill it out on site.

CAN I BRING MY OWN FIREARMS?

Sure! However, if you shoot your own firearms you will need to provide your own ammunition for the event. There will be firearms at each bay to borrow.  Up to 20 rounds of ammunition will be provided for "loaner" firearms.

HOW DO I FIND THE EVENT LOCATION?

Registration will be at Jay First Assembly. 908 N Main St. Jay, OK 74346. Due to limited parking at the range, there will be a shuttle service running shooters back and forth between the church and the range all day. The range is located approximately 5 minutes from the church.

WHAT TIME DOES REGISTRATION BEGIN?

Registration is from 9AM to 9:30AM on Saturday, September 30th.

IS HEARING AND EYE PROTECTION REQUIRED?

Yes. Please bring your own hearing and eye protection to the event.

Father's can bring songs 14 years and older.

SAFETY PROCEDURES

Four Universal Firearms Safety Rules:

1. Treat Every gun as if it is loaded

2. Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to destroy

3. Never put your finger on the trigger until you have made the decision to fire

4. Know what your target is and what is beyond your target  

 

Range Day Firearms Procedures for shooters with their own firearms:

1. Every firearm needs to remain in a case or needs to be flagged when not at a shooting bay

2. Ammunition needs to remain out of all weapons and magazines until at the staging station

3. At the staging station magazines may be loaded with ammunition, but MUST NOT BE PLACED INTO THE FIREARM

4. Once at the shooting bay at the command of the range master firearms may be loaded and shoot must take the low ready position with the muzzle pointing down range.

5. Once the course of fire is complete, magazine must be cleared and firearm must be cleared with a visual and physical check  

 

Courses of fire procedures:

1. Always follow the command of the ranger masters

2. If commands are not followed or procedures are not followed you will be asked to leave the premises

3. Our goal is an OVERT DISPLAY of safety.

4. If a shooter is firing their own weapons see above procedure.

5. If shooter is firing weapons provided by the event, the range master will load magazine, firearm and place on the shooting table with muzzle down range

6. At the command of the range master the shooter will pick up the firearm and assume the low ready position with the firearm muzzle down range  

 

Firearm restrictions:

1. .22LR firearms do not qualify for the shooting competition

2. Pistol event targets will be steel plate. No magnums will be allowed for these events.

RANGE DAY COURSES OF FIRE

1. Shooting for time on 5 steel plates between 10 and 20 yards

 

2. Time will be based on how long it takes to hit all 5 plates or until shooter runs out of ammunition

 

3. No penalties for misses.

 

4. A penalty of 3 seconds will be added for every plate NOT shot

 

5. A shooter may not shot a plate more than one time

 

6. 10 maximum rounds per magazine and/or 10 rounds total for the course of fire

 

7. Shooter will get two strings of fire. The best time will be recorded.

1. Shooting for time on 3 steel plates at 100 yards, 125 yards and 150 yards

 

2. Time will be based on how long it takes to hit all 3 plates or until shooter runs out of ammunition

 

3. No penalties for misses.

 

4. A penalty of 3 seconds will be added for every plate NOT shot

 

5. A shooter may not shot a plate more than one time

 

6. 10 maximum rounds per magazine and/or 10 rounds total for the course of fire

 

7. Shooter will get two strings of fire. The best time will be recorded.

1. Shooting for accuracy at a sequence of 5 clay pigeons


2. When shooter yells “pull” a single clay pigeon will be launched


3. Every clay hit will remove .5 second from your total time


4. A maximum of 1 shell per sequence of fire
